PFI

HTI is an experienced and successful bidder in the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) arena within the United Kingdom. PFIs, a key element in the UK's strategy for delivering modern, high quality public services, have been invigorating private sector finance into major public sector capital projects since 1992.

The UK's National Health Service utilizes the PFI process primarily for hospital building projects, under which a private sector consortium develops and manages the facility through a 25-30 year contract. HTI has been selected as the preferred bidder for one of the largest public private healthcare initiatives in the UK the Northern Ireland Cancer Center. In selecting HTI, the Trust chose an innovative approach one of long term cancer program partnership rather that the standard facility or equipment contractor.

Not only vital for the modernization of the UK, PFI's have generated significant international interest in the UK's approach. HTI's extensive cancer care experience, combined with a hands-on understanding of the PFI process, makes the firm uniquely qualified to lead the move toward increased public/private cancer center initiatives. Key advantages to HTI's involvement are:

  • Program development (not just a purely building led effort)
  • 30 years of cancer experience/expertise
  • Experts in necessary cancer care technology
  • Neutrality in selection of equipment vendor / manufacturer
  • Global linkages with major academic centers and equipment suppliers
  • Understanding of information technologies
  • Strong construction partnerships
  • Availability of funding
  • Capability and resources needed to undertake large schemes
